Are We As God’s People Eating The Good Of The Land Yet?

Are we there yet, that is at the place where we can truly say that we are eating the good of the land? If not, why not?

Isaiah 1:18-20
18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;
20 but if you refuse and rebel,
you shall be eaten by the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”

Be Careful To Vow Or Promise

Good morning Beloved,

Have you made promises or vows to God? Have you kept your promise or vows? Be careful to make new vows or promises and please keep those you’ve already made. In doing so, you become like God who always keeps HIS. What’s more, your integrity becomes evident to all and to God.

Deuteronomy 23:21-23
21“When you make a vow to the LORD your God, be prompt in fulfilling whatever you promised him. For the LORD your God demands that you promptly fulfill all your vows, or you will be guilty of sin.
22 However, it is not a sin to refrain from making a vow.
23 But once you have voluntarily made a vow, be careful to fulfill your promise to the LORD your God.

Psalm 15:1-5
1 Who may worship in your sanctuary, LORD? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
2 Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
3 Those who refuse to gossip
or harm their neighbors
or speak evil of their friends.
4 Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the LORD, and keep their promises even when it hurts.
5 Those who lend money without charging interest, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent.
Such people will stand firm forever.

Do Not Cheat God Or Men In Your Giving

Beloved, do not offer up to God offerings or tithes whose source is unclean or corrupt. So stealing, deceiving, defrauding, extorting, lying, cheating or prostituting to make a living and then give to the Lord all apply here. Praise Jehovah we are no longer like we we were, i.e. liars and cheats who defraud to make a profit.

Deuteronomy 23:17-18
17 “No Israelite, whether man or woman, may become a temple prostitute.
18 When you are bringing an offering to fulfill a vow, you must not bring to the house of the LORD your God any offering from the earnings of a prostitute, whether a manb or a woman, for both are detestable to the LORD your God.

Malachi 3:5
5 “At that time I will put you on trial. I am eager to witness against all sorcerers and adulterers and liars. I will speak against those who cheat employees of their wages, who oppress widows and orphans, or who deprive the foreigners living among you of justice, for these people do not fear me,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.

Malachi 3:8-12
8“Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! “But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’
“You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me.
9 You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me.
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!
11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease.a Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
12 “Then all nations will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.

What is God’s Opinion On A City Of Refuge Or Taking In People In Trouble?

My Beloved,

Would you take in a slave who has escaped from his/her master or someone who is in trouble? Is this not similar to the city of refuge scenario? How would you treat someone like this if you decide to take them in? Were we not once slaves to sin who escaped into the house of God? How has GOD treated us?

Deuteronomy 23:15-16
15 “If slaves should escape from their masters and take refuge with you, you must not hand them over to their masters.
16 Let them live among you in any town they choose, and do not oppress them.

Your Cleanliness Does Affect Your Proximity To God

Beloved, This was an uncomfortable set of verses to read, but God clearly inspired this and so it is important. But, how is it important to us today? Would you live in a nasty smelly home or sleep in a bed pooped or peed in? There is a connection between cleanliness and godliness. Can you share what you think that connection is?

Deuteronomy 23:10-14
10 “Any man who becomes ceremonially defiled because of a nocturnal emission must leave the camp and stay away all day.
11 Toward evening he must bathe himself, and at sunset he may return to the camp.
12 “You must have a designated area outside the camp where you can go to relieve yourself.
13 Each of you must have a spade as part of your equipment. Whenever you relieve yourself, dig a hole with the spade and cover the excrement.
14 The camp must be holy, for the LORD your God moves around in your camp to protect you and to defeat your enemies. He must not see any shameful thing among you, or he will turn away from you.

Show Compassion, Love Kindness Like God Showed You

My Beloved, What do you think matters the most to God? Is it gold or silver or riches or wealth? Is it our skill or talent or superfluous intellect? Or is it the trophies, awards, accomplishments or achievements we boast of or carry with our heads held high?

No, it’s none of these? It’s our love, kindness, compassion we share and give to those around us.

You see God did not use power and might to win us over to Himself. Rather, by HIS lovingkindness HE drew us to Himself which is why HE sacrificed HIS son our Savior Christ JESUS for us. And the same love and sacrifice is expected from us to all around us.

So love, don’t hate. Give don’t take. Be kind and not mean to all around you. Every chance you get, especially now, seize it and use it for pure godly love and show God you are just like HE made you; HIS image, HIS likeness. LOVE!

Stay Pure! Only Possible In Christ

My Beloved, God expected Isreal to stay pure when they went to physically combat their enemies. The war we fight today is spiritual, so how do we maintain purity and victory? By remaining in Christ, growing in understanding of what matters, and putting on the armor of light.

Deuteronomy 23:9
9 “When you go to war against your enemies, be sure to stay away from anything that is impure.

Philippians 1:9-11
9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.
10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.
11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

Romans 13:12
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
